Tapping Systems

Atplas offers a range of self-tapping ferrule straps, ferrules and flat boss straps in plastic or gunmetal in order to tap into the water main to connect a service pipe for a house.

From the invention of the Talbot ferrule in 1904, Atplas can count on over a century of experience with tapping systems.  Ferrules, which incorporate an isolation valve, are generally used for metal pipes.  For other pipe materials a strap is also required. Self-tapping ferrule straps contain an integrated cutter and isolation valve and can be used on plastic or asbestos cement pipes.  This eliminates the need for a drilling machine.  The straps use a specially designed cutter which tests show greatly reduces the risk of bursting a PVC main or creating a swarf blockage whilst cutting.  Atplas has recently launched a new innovation, the plastic self-tapping ferrule strap which has a lower environmental impact as it is lead free and lightweight.
